HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY: The photos i've choosen were taken by my husband (he participates in a photo forum): this one is somekind of hawk in portuguese is called francelho. It's very beautifull and next to our apartment there's a family of them (which is very rare). Butterflie I don't like flies but those eyes look to good to draw. ;D another butterflie (we have a lot of different ones and there's a group or only one biologist that want's to built a place for butterflie...something like a zoo but for them). fireworks from yesterday the flower that represents our island (although we don't agree) this was taken from Pico do Areeiro (with the flowers that should represent Madeira the Massaroco flower) and to end it my beautifull son All the best for 2008 Nair

Nair, PhotoBucket says your album is empty. Did you upload a resized copy of your photos and use the thumbnail feature? I don't think PB allows them to be larger than a certain size.

What beautiful photos, Nair. I like them all. Well almost all of them, the fly is a bit disturbing for me since I can't stand bugs! LOL Your little boy is so cute!

I'm glad that everybody can see the photos. The francelho (the bird) it's not a hawk, he or she belongs to the family of falcons (Falco tinnunculus canariensis). They live here in Madeira and in the Canarias Islands. There only a few and it's very sad for me. Nair

Ups, Sorry Uta, I wanted to say that I will use this photo in my next challenge hosting. lol So now it is me wgho is curious what you all will do with this photo..... Nair, I too love falcons - in German we call this species (word-for-word-translation:) Tower-Falcon. I think the correct english name is kestrel. These falcons are protected here in Germany and have been "Bird of the Year", we also have a few left. But step by step their population is growing.

Hey Nair,
do you have a larger version of the falcon? I tried to enlarge it, but it was not possible without loosing all details.

It as been like 18 years (when i was 12) since i've painted with watercolours. But i've discovered a box that i wanted so much (although i prefere oils): it's koi pocket field sketch box (12 colors and a brush that looks like a pen and has a desposit for water) Just brilliant i was very very lucky today. I hope that the next ones look a lot better than this one. ;D Nair

Great butterfly Nair, I'd love to see more watercolour work from you. Those birds of paradise are lovely Lasi. What medium did you use? Love the colours in both of them.

Great wc job, Nair! The butterfly is really wonderful!
And the flowers too, Lasi. Great colours. This is why I love pastels - for the vibrant colours. Great work too!

Nair - I'm sure I've responded to your butterfly - it must have been on some other thread. In any case, I will say it here too - this is really brilliantly delicate - lovely! Laura: Keep them coming girl. Great rendering! Are these soft or oil pastels?
