Hey guys. ;D Here are the reference photos for the next 14 days. As ever every medium is welcome and every idea too. If someone wants to have a greyscale, please just yell. The first photo needs no explanation I think. ;D The second is a cuddling photo of two of our boys. LOL The third photo I have taken yesterday - especially fo youhuhuuuu. The last ... hm .. what can I say .... a candle??? ;D Have fun!

He, he, Martina! Love the photo of your boys! It's as if the dog is saying "Oh the shame of it to be caught snuggling with a cat!"
We still aren't moved (no hot water & a couple of leaks to be fixed) so I don't know whether I'll get in on this challenge either but I hope to - eventually! Great pics to choose from!

Very interesting pics Martina. I can already visualize the candle in pastels. I'll try one of these for sure once I catch up with all the housework round here and some errands that are becoming urgent. Our thirtieth wedding anniversary is coming up (plus my husband's birthday) and I still haven't the faintest idea what I'm going to get him!

Heyyyy Uta!! Nice to have you back!!!! I am glad that you want to try the still-life - I broke my mind over creating that. LOL
Jan, I am sorry to hear that - I am sure that would drive me crazy and I really apologize your patience. I very much hope that they will fix your house soon.
Rose, houseworking - pffffft - who needs it......... ;D Wow - 30 years is a long time. My hubby and I have our 17th anniversary on wednesday - I made a drawing for him that I show after that day because he sometimes pop in here although he can not speak english.
And please - nobody make stress because of a challenge, art should be fun. I put the photos in our library so then everyone can use it.

I have thought of making him a drawing or a painting as a present - particularly since he is practically the only member of the family I have not made a portrait of. But there are drawbacks to that. Forst of all I do not possess a single decent photo of him! Secondly, he works from home and is always totally aware of what I am working on since I work in the living room. Thirdly I am now running of out time. Ah! presents for Philip are always a big problem!

loooooooooool
Exactly the same here!!! Gilbert hates photos of him and he is always around and he is CURIOUS "What are you drawing, darling?" *looking with a giraffes neck over my shoulder* !
He is always interested in what I am doing and - the best - he totally loves what I draw and paint.
So I am a lucky one -and ...... he often walks with the dogs alone so then I can do iit for him. ;D

Okay, Rose - what about a lovely picture of Phillip's wife? Sounds a bit like a large ego - but I am sure he would love it. All artists do self portraits eh?

I just want to state, on this very quiet day , that I have done a drawing of the dog and cat. It is just a contour/continuous? line drawing, for fun. But I was ready to post it today. That was until I tried to plug the USB into my camera and found that someone had crushed the end! Now I have to wait until I get a replacement cord.

Oh Paulette, what a pity! We too have to wait - and I am sooooo curious.... I forgot to mention the names of the guys: Justy is the dog, Charly the tomcat. The very cheeky tomcat. They feel very honored that you have chosen them as models.

Here is my bachyacht. As always - in real it is a little lighter and brighter. And of course I didn't copy the ref photo - seems I always have to put in "my own touch". CP on Canson "1557 Dessin Drawing" - it is a paper with light tooth, not as good as Stonehenge, but close to and available in Europe. lol

Very good Martina.. I like the repetition effect and the clouds are very, very well done.
You're really good at changing things around using the reference only as a basic idea! I love that!

Thank you, Rose. I guess I should tell that I at least wanted to make sailboat in the back instead the lighthouse. But - looool - I made it - but the wind blew from the wrong side into the sail. Thanks heaven my hubby pointed taht out. Then I (*pout*) lost the joy in doing another sailboat and made the lighthouse. I used my new electic eraser (very cheap, 9,- €, but very effective) and must say - this is a really great tool!

After a number of weeks of being totally blocked I decided to jump into 2 of Martina's challenges . I did them very very quickly to see how much detail I could throw in.

Good job Tim, you got a lot of detail in for quick drawings especially on the candlestick holder. I am glad you have broken through your block!

Great Joanie!!!! I love it. This is exactly Justy - his slightly desperate look if Charly is pushing him - desperate and enjoying both at the same time.

Hm - I think it is pretty normal to like the drawing of another person more than the own., But - Tim, you know I am always honest - you can't compare these two - you never can compare two pics in my opinion.
You both have a very different style and you both made a great job - really great! I like both pics the same (is it right to say so?), you both have a very special expression, an own style and a very good eye for different details.
