Great pics, Joanie! I know you posted the chocolate as a lure for Ted, but you just blew my diet! I'll bet I gained 10 pounds just looking at those!

Interesting pics Joanie - thank you. I was attracted by the chocolates - I swear I could actually smell them! I thought of doing them in pastels but decided I don't have much of a range of browns. So I opted for acrylics. Of course there's no telling that I will actually achieve what I set out to do but just to prove that at least I am trying here's how far I am setting up the values in monochrome: Good luck to everyone trying anyone of the pics.

Wonderful, Rose!!!!
I see you really haven't lost your knack for art. LOL ;D ;D
Those chocolates have a funny story behind them.
My husband is a chocolate freak and every year for Xmas he seems to always bring home a box or two of chocolates from someone. Well, for some reason this box ended up in the basement with some other things.
When I asked him if he had any chocolates so I could take a picture of them he said yes and brought out this box. Well, he said they had been in the basement for maybe a couple of years!!!! LOL So they were not very tempting to eat. But they sure made for a nice picture.

Oh, my! Chocolates certainly wouldn't last a couple of years at my house! Great start, Rose! I'm waiting impatiently to see more! I never seem to finish a challenge here & if I even start one, it's usually not an animal. Somehow they just don't seem like challenges but Lucky grabbed me & shook me & growled at me every time I moved away from the drawing board! He screamed out to use a technique I saw in a demo at Daniel Smith. I can't remember the artist but she was using cp, not pastels. However, Lucky seemed to require the hated (by me) pastel pencils and I like the way he came out. This took less than an hour & I didn't have near the colors I needed but ---- Of course, he could use some tweaking as usual! Anyway, here's Lucky, just in time for St. Patrick's day!

Oh how lucky Lucky is! Great work Jan - I just love his expression. Very interesting style too. I never seem to be able to come up with something like that. I mean I find it difficult to decide what to put in and what to leave out. Now for my painting. Hmph! The monochrome in acrylics seemed to work pretty well but once I came to actually colouring it I just wasn't pleased with what I was getting so I gave up on it. I didn't give up on the chocolates though. I just switched medium and went to pastels which is what I had thought of in the first place. It's taking a little long since I have to put in loads of underlays to get all those different browns but I'm more or less pleased with what I have so far. Maybe another couple of sessions and it should be done.

Oh, Jan - that is beautiful! I love it. It looks exactly like him too.
He is a cute little fellow and such a friendly little guy. He is a very lucky dog too! They got him and his brother together but his brother died of parvo when they were still pups and he was "lucky" because he didn't get it.

You know, I really liked this at first but after leaving it propped up in my studio then returning, I don't like it so much any more. Well, I do like it but I don't like that it can't be seen until you're a foot from it. I also don't like his nose!
The colors show up as about the same as in rl on my monitor but it's just too bright in places and not bright enough in others. I'll probably try this again some other time but it will be when I have plenty of time to work on it. However, if I think twice about it, I'd probably dither about with the color choices and then end up doing it traditionally!
Thanks for the kind words though.
Joanie, that happened with us. We got 2 lab puppies, brother & sister, and one got parvo and the other apparently didn't. We managed to save the one who got it (major bucks though) and ended up having to put the other one to sleep after several years. It seems she developed some sort of digestive problem caused by some kind of major stress. The vet believed it was from when she was exposed to parvo and her body got stressed fighting it off. Anyway, come to find out, where we lived (before we moved here) was a hotbed area of the virus - if we had known, we would have had the pups vaccinated before we brought them home. The male developed the disease a few days before the appointment for their shots!
I'm just glad Lucky made it!

I also can see what you mean, Jan, but I like this one very much - it is different and it is good. Great "quickie", Rose. I am thinking about how blue chocolate could taste... And what else could I say: Woooohoooooo - Fitos first participation in a challenge. This is a real dangerous dog - great one.

Bravo Fito!! You are always so innovative. Now for my chocolates. Let me assure you that blue chocolates taste really awesome - it's when you add colour to them that they start to taste a little off! ;D But that only happens when you're not so good with acrylics. When you go for a medium you are more familiar with the results can be a little better. Here are my chocolates in soft pastels on ingres paper 12x9.
