Great pics, Miranda! I wouldn't mind trying my hand at all of them (but you'd probably shoot me if I tried a painting of that darling little boy! - Is he your son?)
Gotta pick one & get going on it!

I was looking for a reference to practice my drawing skills and remembered the boy from the challenge. Likeness is not exact, but not too far off. It was fun doing a quick charcoal study, rather than doing a painting that takes several days. Charcoal 8x11.

Great job, Graham.......................it's not exact as you say but it's pretty darn close................you can tell it's the same little boy. I like it. Did you do a preliminary sketch or just go right to the charcoal drawing itself? You really seem to have a knack for portraiture. Just curious.

Did you do a preliminary sketch or just go right to the charcoal drawing itself? You really seem to have a knack for portraiture. Just curious. I just went in and started drawing with the thick charcoal piece, correcting as I went along. It would probably have looked better with a prelim drawing, but I wanted to practice my drawing skills by eyeballing it and checking proportions with a pencil at arms length (since thats what I will have to do if I want to paint portriats from life). Overall, I'd say this took about an hour and a half.

It took me a little time to finish it, because I have a bunch of work at the moment. But it was such a fun to paint the flamingo (is it flamingo in english too??) CP on watercolorpaper, about 140x80mm.
