It's been a while since we played tag with this one - so here's a new one for you. 2 Karma points to whoever comes up with the name of the painting and it's creator.

I'll have a guess; Dogs Playing Poker (DPP) refers collectively to a series of sixteen oil paintings by C. M. Coolidge, commissioned in 1903 by Brown & Bigelow to advertise cigars. All the paintings in the series feature anthropomorphized dogs, but the nine in which dogs are seated around a card table have become derisively well-known in the United States as examples of mainly working-class taste in home decoration!!! LOL!

I didn't know how this works... actually it was an exposition on the library from my school, just a wall full of printing paintings, most of them optics illusions, there i love to see ;D, just a way to get more studens to the library i think, well and it was there this one with the dogs, it were two similar dogs paintigs from this artist... the other i think it had the name andrea said, but i liked this best.. So it means i have to make the next challenge, when to?

It means that now you can give us the next quiz about old masters (or younger ones ;D ) You choose a painting and then post it here and we have to guess (better would be knowing ) who is the artist and what is the name of the pic. Oh - don't forget to hide the signature of the artist as I forgot it one. Now have fun giving us the next quiz. When - that's your choice.

Yeh! You are right Nair (I looked it up!). Can you believe that: DalĂ produced over 1,500 paintings in his career, in addition to producing illustrations for books, lithographs, designs for theater sets and costumes, a great number of drawings, dozens of sculptures, and various other projects, including an animated cartoon for Disney called Destino. Wow!

Well done Nair!! I'm usually a fan of Dali but I really had never seen this painting.
I'm going to give you your two points of Karma since Ema is away for the weekend.
Would you be so kind as to post the next quiz? Remember to edit out the signature of the artist if it is evident in the image.
Tim: You get one point as well... within 60 minutes from now. I only have four hands LOL.

Thank you Nair - I was just about to ask for a tiny clue. Now this narrows it down quite a little bit.

I still have no idea who this could be. But I am sure one of our art-history experts will solve it.
But what I can say about this paintingis: I like it very much.

Another hint: she was married with another painter, he became a Sir. So she's a lady. And she's from the late XIX century. Hope that this help a little bit more.
