Thats quite amazing I would never have guessed they were digitally produced. Great job Tim. I'm guessing that its quicker to do digitally?

Hey Tim! If you drew it, even digitally, then you still drew & painted it! I think you may have meant that you didn't reproduce it exactly like the photo? Whatever you did, you did a great job with it! What software do you use?

I agree totally to Jan - both pics are wonderful Tim. I know I asked to do the cap exactly, but for me the main thing is that it was fun for you.
Well done, Tim!!

Andrea it took me the same amount of time ...I was building layers and experimenting at the same time Jan- I'm using Corel Painter Essentials ...I have Adobe Illustrator but Corel has this free hand type function which I'm sure Illustrator has ( I haven't figured it out yet) that allows for a non vector type drawing. The vectors usually never go where I want them to I prefer the pen even though I feel like I am drawing on an icy surface. The mouse feels like you are drawing with a bar of soap. Thanks Martina ...however I don't know what happened to the hat it is actually larger than what was posted . In some ways it feels like cheating because I trace over the original image very loosely and then transfer it onto a new page and then do the filling out .I guess it isn't much different than using tracing paper. Not sure if I can do the original drawing freehand on the tablet ...yet .More practice and better control of the skating pen

Wonderful parrot Tim! Well done! The cap is nicely rendered too but I'm thinking, unless there are holes in the tip the shadow should be uniform, right?

I agree Rose LOL ...but the digital waterbrush has a mind of its own .You do a very soft wash and all the colours go everywhere so when I was shading it kept going all over the place it was quite funny .In fact as you swoosh the colour spreads I guess like a real water colour brush . I will correct it later

I like it. It's good for fast large sketches. In the moment I try it on an old mobile easel. It's not very sturdy, but for the beginning it's good enough for me.
My two birds are Bourke parakeets. Hope the name is right. I found no good translation. They come from Australia.

Good job Uta. It's very detailed to say you only spent 20 minutes on it. I'm impressed.
I've just started Polly and its more difficult than I thought it would be! Hopefully will get it done by the end of the challenge.

Thank you very much.
@ Andrea I had parakeets the half of my live ( of course smaller birds), so that this motive was not too difficult for me.

I had a piece of 6"x4" Wallis sample paper laying around, so I did the landscape. Also, I recently finished the book about Van Gogh, so I tried to do the landscape in his style. This is done in pastel.

Graham! That is soooooo cool! I love it! How do you like the Wallis paper? Its my favorite paper for pastel. Holds many layers. It doesn't work well with OMS or alcohol washes, but otherwise its great.

Hi Graham, this is really very very wonderful. Vincent would be very proud on you, you really give this scene the typically Van Gogh feeling.
Uta, wow! I adore your "20-minute-sketch" - unbelievable what you are able to do in such a short time.
Great!!!
