Good job on the parrot, Rose. I think, for the most part, animals don't look as good in acrylic as other media but you've managed to do a great job with this one.
Tim, I noticed but what do you say? lol I think the "translations" are a major part of why this forum is so fun!

This is my first time doing something from a challenge. I don't have any real training and there is a lot I don't know about pastels. Thanks, Laura

Wow, Ema & Laura! These are soooooo great! Neither of you have a thing to be ashamed of!
Laura said "I don't have any real training and there is a lot I don't know about pastels." Well, that's why this forum is here - so we all can learn about any medium we want. And, besides that, for someone who doesn't know about pastels, you've done a magnificient job! Was it done in soft pastels? Does anyone know anything about oil pastels?
Anyway, beautiful posts of all the subjects so far!

Wow, I turn away for a minute and you all produce these amazing parrots! Well done Rose, Ema and Lasi, they are all beautiful. Welcome aboard Lasi, I'm looking forward to seeing many more beautiful pictures from you.
Hopefully I'll be finished my Xmas card this weekend and I'll start on my version of the parrot and then we'll have a flock of them! LOL!

Oooops - I have missed what is going on here - otherwise I would have "jumped in" as fast as lightning. Teasing me this way ..... BUT: First welcome to Let's make Art Laura! see what kind of people "live" here - funny and very warm and friendly..... and VERY cheeky! And then - wooooohoooooo - all your parrots are really great!!!! Even the peckers.... I am laughing all the time because you are laughing . lol And Tim, there is no reason for apologizing - something like that makes it fun and interesting, as Jan said. And you all know that I am a messmaker and love to be so - too much spontanous.... But now please tell me - what IS a pecker??? I miss mostly such special words (how do you call the shiny thingy in the middle of the parrots face with that he can bite in all your cheeky noses? ;D) and looked it up in two different dictionaries. So now tell me what have I written. I want to know it so I can tell my hubby what kind of mess I made now.

Hehe, Martina! How can I say this in a delicate, but understandable way? (Hmmmm, maybe a good question to leave for Tim???)
Well, a pecker is a slang term in the US and is in the same category as our Mr. Blick! lol
I think a better term for what you call the parrot's pecker would be beak.

Laura - I'm thrilled!! Not only have you joined us but you have taken the plunge immediately - and with such a beautiful painting too! I look forward to seeing more of your work... and if you wish to have your own gallery just let me know what you would like to call it and I'll set it up for you. Now for Martina! But now please tell me - what IS a pecker??? I miss mostly such special words (how do you call the shiny thingy in the middle of the parrots face with that he can bite in all your cheeky noses? The thing you are referring to is called a beak. As for the pecker... ;D...I'll tell you in your ear! ...for the moment, let's just say it's a euphemism for something located quite a way further down from the beak!

Yeh, Brian, that its one pretty Polly. I was looking for Snoopy though, you usually hide him in there somewhere! Good job.
Right Tim, I think you are going to have to build an aviary to keep all these birds in, otherwise they'll be eating all the food in the bistro. Hehe!
