Well, he doesn't actually belong to my sister but she gave me the photo she took of him when they were in Mexico a few months ago. This is atc size and was a sort of quick watercolor painting with a little ink for emphasis.

Very cute Jan. What colours do you mix to get that sort of grey. Grey is always my downfall in water colours.

Thanks, everyone. I just liked his expression so much that I wanted to paint him/her.
Rose, gray is just a watered down version of black. You can mix just about any dark colors for black then add extra water to make gray. I typically use indigo & sepia as a base for black then add other colors to make it warmer or cooler.
You can also use complements to make gray, but it's really the amount of added water that will give you the subtle variations of gray that you want.
