I have finally got round to using the easel I bought something like six months ago. The main reason why I got it is that while my drawing table is perfect for work on paper it just won't take a canvas because really there's not way of securing it. So what better excuse to use the easel than a work on canvas! I've set it up in its table top option on a bed table I "inherited" from my late mother-in-law. It's height adjustable and has castors so I can easily roll it out of the way at the end of the day. And of course, the easel itself is height adjustable so I can sit or stand as I please. I find I love to paint standing up but my back doesn't enjoy it at all unfortunately. Oh and don't bother trying to make out what I'm painting - it's just a background to something I'm doing... and no, it's not an abstract!

Very nice set up, Rose! And knowing what you are working on - I think it's looking like a great start! Lead on, MacDuff!

Way to go Rose. I know you love your drawing table/stand that you had made but you do need something to hold on to your painting while painting! I thought you had purchased a plein aire easel? This looks like a table top. ?? Anyway, I'm glad to see you drawing/painting again. ;D

Thanks all. Joanie this is a plein air easel but it has various options. The legs fold in, both for carrying and for use as a table top. And they are also telescopic so I can adjust the height. So really in a sense I could open the legs and keep them low so I could still sit at the easel but I got lazy so I just plunked it on the table! ;D

That was a very wise choice! I love easels but I only paint at them and can't draw that way! I also can't stand up and paint very well. LOL
