Hi All, Well I don't believe this but Cloud eight stationary saw a few of my drawings and have asked my permission to use it in their quick notes stationary collection. I have had the pleasure of working with them this past week and I am very honoured they have decided to feature some of my art work. This is part of a news letter that was sent this morning to over 175,000 subscribers and I believe it will be eventually up dated to Cloud eights online site. thundercloud.net/stationery15/cartoon-tyme/index.htmThanks to every one on Let's make art, you are all a very big inspiration and I don't think I could have come this far with out you all. Best wishes, Brian.

Brian, I'm very pleased and proud of you because of your work being chosen for Cloud Eight, but is it legal? Will being "out there" in a highly visible format bring the Charles Schultz/Disney et al people down on you? As much as I like you and like your work, you're using copyright material and taking credit for it. You're a brilliant artist & I'm sure you could come up with your own work that would rival that of Schultz's etc.
This is a subject I'm passionate about and it's nothing personal against you. It's fine to learn to draw after the style of another artist, but there comes a time to step out on your own, don't you think?

Hi all, thanks so much for your kind words every one.... Hi Jan , there are a few of my own creations such as the turtle car and the native girl I call Cyn Kid they titled Squaw I have the complete copy rights to. They may be featuring me again later this year and the next collection may entirely be of my Cyn Kid creations if I can pull off some more drawings. It was Cyn Kid that actually started all this. I was not happy about that title but it was too late to change it in time for this news letter. As far as Disney and Schulz it was Cloud eights idea to use these drawings and as long as I make absolutely no money from them they said it is okay. In fact this entire collection is all done on a volunteer basis including the work from Cloud eight. It is a thrill for a guy like me and a newbe just to get the exposure and there is no money involved what so ever. So I agree with you and hope you understand there is no money involved but a way for an artist to get exposure , I realize down the road I will strictly only be using my own creations such as Cyn kid if there is any money involved. By the way Brenda Hoddinott was the first artists to get featured by Cloud eight back in the 90's. The people from Cloud eight really are wonderful and I enjoyed working with them Jan and I am sure they don't want to raise copyright issues or do anything not legal .In fact if you read closely you will see I only have the copyright to my original artwork only. Best wishes , Brian.

Awww, Brian, you're such a love! I didn't want you to think I was persecuting you or anything or was trying to make you feel bad. You handled it all just as I hoped you would - with a logical explanation!
Cloud Eight was the stationery site I used a lot back in the day when everyone had dial-up & was as slow as I was. I love that site! Unfortunately, I can't use stationery now but I still love the look of all of it.
I am really very happy for you as I am for anyone who succeeds in getting their name out there. I hope this is an opportunity for you that will lead you into bigger and better things! (It's just too darn bad that you aren't getting paid for this! We all need a way to pay for our art supplies!)
Hugs!

Thanks again with all my heart eveyone and thanks Rose and Paulette! Hi Jan, hey I always remember you gave me my very first lesson on copy rights, I think I saved that letter for a year... and to be called brilliant by you in itself is a real thrill for me because you are so very talented, one of my favorite artists and a real pro. I will always have great respect for you and you will forever be an inspiration to me. I hope soon now maybe one day some $$will come my way but I think I still have a long way to go yet...in the mean time this sure is fun. Love you all, best wishes and hugs, Brian.
