Here we go again on another round of these quizzes which are fun. I've chosen a very small detail of a very famous painting by a very famous artist. No clues beyond that for the time being.

I will not broach the subject of brooches either Tim, particularly since this is not one. I'd rather sit and watch! ;D

Savaldor Dali ...The Persistence of Memory (1931)
It's funny when I first looked at it the other day I thought it was a timepiece of some sort and then the next reveal I knew what it was and where it was from

Is it Sir Henry Spencer Moore? (30 July 1898 – 31 August 1986) he was an English artist and sculptor. Moore's signature form is a reclining figure.

It is indeed Andrea I gave you 1 karma and will do again shortly. At the AGO ( Art Gallery of Ontario) we have the largest collection of his pieces in the world . There are a few others scattered around Toronto as well. They are enormous I've come to appreciate his work more now than I did when I was younger . I climbed on once at Toronto City Hall ( and no the incident was not alcohol related ) I drove by City Hall the other day so that reminded me of him.

Andrea, I am sorry to tell you that you have to pick another. When you click on the properties of the picture, the name of the painting and the artist comes up. Got to be real sneaky around how you name your pictures on your hosting site. Can you find another?

Ah! Now that is cool Birdie! I hadn't thought to look but now that you've said it of course I did. But don't tell me these are pastels or I'll just about die! Andrea - if you don't wish to rename your pictures I believe there is an option on PhotoBucket for scrambling the names of pics to hide their origin.

Oh, silly me, LOL! Oh well it was called Madame Moitessier painted by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres in 1856. Don't die Rose, I believe it is in oils! He was a French Neoclassical painter. Although he thought of himself as a painter of history in the tradition of Nicolas Poussin and Jacques-Louis David, by the end of his life it was his portraits, both painted and drawn, that were recognized as his greatest legacy. I was totally drawn to it, the material of the dress and the jewellery are awesome. This is the full picture:

gotcha! That really is a magnificent painting though! As for the sculpture, now I'm really stumped! I am afraid I haven't spent as much time learning about sculpture as I have about the painters. I don't even know where to look! ---- it's going to take time!

Ok I'm googling to try and find out who this is and I came across a Christ on the Cross chocolate ( like an Easter bunny) now I am not overly religious but I even find that somewhat blasphemous

Andrea - this is the Santo Spirito Crucifix by Michelangelo Buonaroti. Tim - That really is sick! I wonder not only why anyone should think of producing such a thing... and wonder even more who would want to buy it. But since it is produced then it is probably bought eh! Hope your son is doing well.

Yes Grampy it is Kandinsky so you get a point of Karma for that. Now give us the name of the painting and you get another.
