This is my first real attempt at painting with acrylics. For the record I did this on rather lightweight medium grain paper using a very basic palette of red, yellow, blue, black and white. The size is 6x6.

This is great Rose I really admire the fact that you are so fearless when it comes to your approach to art . I'm so not ready to broach painting yet ...soon I hope but I find reading and watching what everybody else is doing gives me more direction and confidence to be able to tackle projects like you have done. Well done

Gracias Fito - thank you Tim. My philosophy always is - you never know what you are capable of until you try. And if at first you don't succeed...... . . . . . . . . ........never try skydiving!!

Improvised SeascapeSomething I did on a whim - acrylics straight on to the paper without an initial line drawing. I find painting liberating!

I so envy you ...I think my obsessive complusive control freak nature won't allow me to liberate myself to do this Rose. There is such a nice fluidity to this ...very natural ...not contrived just really well done

Oh! I really love this one. You have really captured the depth and mystery of the water. You can really see things half submerged, and plantlife working it's way up to the surface. And with all of the above, you can still discern the surface wetness and support the water is giving to the plants.
I also love the details. The curl of one of the leaves, and the leaf on the right that is almost copper. The picture becomes even more beautiful at a slight distance.
Well done Rose!
Hugs, ~Bird~

Rose what an absolutely fantastic and fun piece of art! I can't wait to hear of your grandson's reaction to it. You are an amazing woman you know that! You have taken to different mediums with lightening speed and producing wonderful paintings in no time at all. Congratulations on another great piece of art completed!

Very Nice, Rose. I'm sure Ivan will be very proud of this picture
You seem to really have the hang of this painting thing don't you? You really catch on quickly. I will have to say that I still see the "halo" that Jan was talking about but I'm sure nobody else will even notice it. That is usually the case with most pictures, whether they are painted or drawn or whatever. If a person is not an artist they will probably not notice any mistakes in any picture. They think everything is wonderful because they can't do it. LOL I say, leave it alone and call it finished as it is.

Rose, this has turned out wonderful! Ivan is a lucky boy! My grandfather was a painter (hobby-painter - with cp - guess why I love them so much ) and he made some pics especially for me. These paintings are the most precious that I have from my family! I am sure Ivan will feel the same about the dolphin.

Thank you girls. Martina: I hope Ivan will like it. He is normally I pretty good critic and his expectations of me are usually high. It's not the first time that he remarked: Oh yes good... but not your best. I hope he will see the love in this one more than the art. Joanie: It's all thanks to you if I paint at all. As for the halo... I did touch it up again with the paint I had left - the film container proved invaluable. However I did not want to add more dark to what there already was so the impression of halo remains. Christine: I've come to realise that once you grasp the basics of shapes, lines, values and the play of light and shade there is really very little difference between media. The same principles apply whether you are drawing or painting, using a pencil, a brush or just your fingers as in Scott Wade's Dirty Car Art.. Ultimately it all boils down to careful observation of your subject.
