Beautiful photos, Paulette. I fell in love with the sunsetrise (I never know - is it a sunrise or a sunset ) at once - just the best for my new awoken wc love. Your son is very cute!! And did I mention the bird catching the crab???

Great pics, Paulette! I'm not a figure painter but I'm drawn to the photo of your son. He's a real cutie patootie! I love the waves & the patterns/shadows in the sand & under the waves too. If I tried this one, it certainly would be a challenge!
Also, I hate to ask but what is that red glob? lol I'm sure it must be a marker or float or even a sea creature of some kind that washed up but it looks like something yukky!

Great pics Paulette - thanks!
Jan - looks almost like a bit of coral to me - probably some sea vegetation.

Jan I do hope you will give it a try. I do think it is a bit of coral. Thank you Rose. Brian I love it and Woodstock would have fit right in with all the birds on the beach.

Great pictures! If it was me, I would have grabbed that red coral and taken it home. It's highly valuable. In the Ukrainian tradition, every girl hopes to one day get red coral necklaces. It's a symbol of womanhood. One of the things that I did when my grand daughter got into Ukrainian Dance, was to make sure she had real red coral beads. I am one quarter Ukrainian, but I was raised in the Ukrainian traditions. Since then, I have read that they are going to limit the harvesting of red coral, due to fears of extinction. Imagine what red coral beads will cost in the future! It was such a pleasure to see a piece from nature! Thank you! Edited to add a pic of the way they are worn.

That is really interesting, Bird. Thanks. Those beads are really bright red - I suppose they are highly polished.
Nice to see you posting again ;D ;D

Here's my quicky of the landscape.... which I see I continue to be not so good at. It's acrylics using a restricted palette of white, cobalt and cerulean blue, paynes grey, lemon yellow and cadmium red - with some ivory black for the silhouttes. 10x7 by the way. I might try it again in pastels just to see if I do a little better.

I like it, Rose.
It reminds me a little bit to Mr VanGogh.

Looks good Rose! It maybe is a bit more vibrant, but I don't think that is a bad thing.

As I said I would I've done the landscape again in pastels - slightly bigger this time 9x12. The colours in real life are more homogeneous. For some reason when I take a picture of my paintings the blues seem to split and the darker ones become overpowering. Placed side by side I think this one is a little better.

That is great Rose. I love the sun playing on the water. I noticed you tagged it Canadian sunset, it is actually a Florida sunset. That bent palm was our landmark when we were walking the beach.

Paulette that is a wishful thinking Canadian sunset I'm looking at my window at work ...you know the weather is bad when a snow plow is stuck and has to be pulled out by a tow truck

I noticed you tagged it Canadian sunset, it is actually a Florida sunset. LOL Paulette - I know palm trees do not abound in Canada. I saved it as Canadian sunset to differentiate it from another sunset picture I have in the same folder. Eventually I went back to your initial post to see where it actually came from. I have now placed the pastel on my website and called it Sanibel Sunset... I like the alliteration.
