Even if you are not tooo happy - I love this portrait very much. for me you has captured his soul - his way of thinking and living. I go with you - John was one of the greatest - if not THE greatest - songwriter we ever had and he died much too young. Unbelievable what a fan can do. Even George Harrison is on my TOP 5 list. Sometimes I think that people like these two has to die early. Maybe they now have another job.

I don't know what you're on about Ted - it looks great to me! I really loved this little challenge we should have more of them... and you know looking at the portrait and the people we suggested you can see why we could all be right ! Tim: How is it possible for your kids not to be aware of the Beatles! Mine are affacionados... Ok so they're a little older than yours but they have loved them for years and they sure are not Beatles contemporaries. Ah! Those were the days... I remember back then dark coloured knee socks with buttons at the side were all the rage!! And the Mary Quant look... and being as skinny as Twiggy! ;D

I agree with Rose, how could anyone NOT know who the Beatles were? My son has taught my little granddaughter the words to several Beatles songs - I'm not sure she knows who the Beatles are just yet but she's singing their songs! LOL

I was never a fan of the Beatles ( I used to listen to loud angry music ...I still do Although I am not a loud angry person so my childrens' exposure to the Beatles is somewhat limited .I don't have any albums and I can't get their music on iTunes ( Eleanor Rigby being my favourite Beatles tune ...I used to play an arrangement of this song done for classical guitar which was beautiful but I cannot find the music anymore ) MAybe some more perspective ...my children do not know what a record player is or for that matter an album. There was nothing better than going to a record store and buying an album and rushing home pulling off the plastic cover and diving in to the album.Putting on the headphones ...looking at the album artwork and reading the liner notes . So I am sorry and I am not disagreeing with anybody about their signifance and contributions and they certainly were great writers they just weren't my cup of tea ) My 8 year old likes old rock n roll so he will be the one who will know all about the Beatles

Hm - maybe it is the generation - I too wasn't a beatles-fan. But I love George Harrison songs and of course Johns ballads about the world. Maybe it is because in my time in boarding school the girls in the neighbour bedroom listened ALL the time to the Beatles (or Cat Stevens) - starting in the morning and never stopped before THEY had to go to bed - and me poor little piggy had to sleep a hour earlier. so my night-music was the blue or the red album of the beatles. The other "neighbours played german folk music - and believe me for me there is nothing worse than german "Volksmusik" Tim, which bands or music do you hear now? Hmmm - maybe we could start a Bistro-thread about our fave music?

With blood shot eyes I thank you Tim. A person got to be a little bit retarded to do something like this with the ability I have.

Ted! *strong looking*
I think you are "fishing for compliments. Your ability is great - your portraits are always amazing!
You take the time you need to finish a portrait and the result is a very carefully rendered well done portrait like this. I love it. And I am sure, Yoko Ono would love it too.

I know you have said before that your drawings take a lot out of you Ted, but surely you must get some pleasure from drawing or you wouldn't be doing it. Or maybe you are an obsessive compulsive drawer? Whatever it is, your drawings always come out "spot-on" and we all love them. For me, personally, I am inspired by them. It makes me want to try harder to do portraits and I thank you for this.

Yes Joanie,I do enjoy the whole process of my drawings.I put the reference picture on the PC's Screen.Have my favorite on line radio station to '60-'70 classic, with surround sound, turned up to max.Hours can go by before I realize the pain I'm in.Cheaper than doing drugs.

I think Ted there must be something said for suffering for your art ...your results are incredible! It takes someone and something special to muster the energy to produce such a great piece.Sorry that you end up paying the price but your results are great.
