I would guess that the artist is either Juan Gris, or Fernando Botero. Both painted objects with the proportions off a bit. I'm leaning more toward Botero, since he liked to paint things fat, but I can't find the title.

You lean in the right direction Grampy! Well done - it is Fernando Botero. I am doubly pleased that you arrived at your answer the way you did - by analyzing the painting looking for characteristics... after all that's the whole point of these quizzes - to train the eye to look for those markers that point to a particular style and therefore one particular artist. Your logic was very apt. The first "clue" I gave was saying this was a still life... though it may not have looked like a clue. However, had you Googled Botero + still life your search would immediately have led you to this particular painting which is known as Still Life with Le Journal . If you hadn't guessed the artist my next clue would have been that the objects (especially the stringed instrument) look a little fat. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) , which is the most individual characteristic of Botero. So good show Grampy! You get your karma point and please be so kind as to host another quiz.

Ok, here is an easy one. I just finished doing a copy of this painting so I could have it on my wall. ![](http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d124/Papillon51/067kc7.jpg)

Grampy I've taken the liberty of resizing your picture for the benefit of our friends on dial-up. It was a little too large. I hope you don't mind. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
